SONGBIRD CHELSEA

Singer, Songwriter, & Performer

There are many ways to describe Chelsea "Songbird" Taylor; unique, talented, and charismatic only scratch the surface. There is, however, one word that is true to her character, that ties it all together... that word is, "Real".

Few people sing so honestly from their heart and soul. Chelsea does so in just the right way, combining art, story, and song in perfect unison.

Take a look and explore how her musical gift captivates and evokes emotion.

Lift Every Voice and Sing with Owen Adams

Hey Everyone, thank you so much for watching! This is my cover of Lift Every Voice and Sing featuring the amazing Owen Adams on piano. This video represents so many things for me and I'd like to share some of those things with you. Firstly, it represents the plight of African Americans in this country. Although the poem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing", was written in 1900 and set to music in 1905, the lyrics still resonate today. In 1919, it was declared to be the "the Negro National Hymn" by the NAACP for its power. Although all of this occurred over a century ago, the power of this song is unwavering and its representation of the cry for equality and liberation for the Black community could never be ignored... Secondly, it represents a personal liberation for me. I often hold myself back from sharing or posting my music simply because I am overly critical of myself and my talent. This criticism of myself has created a false expectation that everyone else will be equally critical. However, I've decided to push past this feeling with everything I have and pursue my musical dreams regardless of what anyone says or thinks. Clearly, this isn't something that I will accomplish overnight, but it'll be something I strive for daily. It's 2020 and it's time to get out of my own way... I hope this video inspires you to get out of your own way, whatever that may mean for you. It is important to remember that you don't lack anything, but rather have everything you need to succeed in life. Perfection is a standard that may be strived for, but is rarely obtained and the pursuit of it can sometimes impede improvement/growth. Don't impede your own growth! You can do whatever you put your mind to! Wishing you peace, love, light, and positivity, Chelsea
